We don’t blame you if you’ve heard of the opportunity to take a Zumba class before and not followed through. There tends to be trepidation about any kind of exercise class, as it’s another commitment on the calendar and you never really look your best doing it. Plus, most gyms charge $10 or more per class and often make you pay for a full package of sessions. It’s enough to convince anyone to stay home.
We encourage you to consider attending a Zumba class tomorrow evening, however. It’s only $7 per person, and it’s a one-time Zumba class rather than a big commitment. It lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20 at the Emmanuel Church of Greenwood Fieldhouse. You don’t have to attend the church to join the class, and the money you pay goes to support a girls travel softball team (Indy Explosion 04, to be specific).
If you don’t know much about Zumba in general, it’s an exercise style combining dance and aerobic elements. You learn and perform choreography to fast-paced and vibrant music. A Zumba class usually incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, and more. You can expect squats and lunges to be part of the choreography. With a good class, Zumba can be fun enough that you forget that you’re exercising.
