If you think you have some wild animals getting excited about Halloween at home, wait until you bring them to the Indianapolis Zoo. ZooBoo is an annual Halloween event at the Zoo that many of our Cheapsters likely remember us writing about last year at this time. Best of all for Cheapsters with full calendars, you won’t miss ZooBoo if you cannot visit the Indianapolis Zoo on a particular night. ZooBoo operates on nine spook-tacular days this month, giving you plenty of opportunities to celebrate Halloween with the animals.
ZooBoo starts today on Friday October 11, but also takes place on October 12-13, 18-20, and 25-27. There is no extra cost for ZooBoo beyond normal zoo admission (which is FREE if you’re a Zoo member). The Zoo opens at 9:00 a.m. as per usual, but ZooBoo means extended hours that last until 7:00 p.m. so you can stay until the sun sets. Your young kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite wild costumes, which can be complemented by the on-site face painting stations. Best of all, kids can bring re-usable goodie bags to ZooBoo to trick-or-treat.
There are a trunk-ful of other activities specific to ZooBoo:
- Halloween-themed Dolphin Show
- Elephant Pumpkins Smash (at 3:00 p.m. on ZooBoo days)
- Monster music
- Animal-related Halloween crafts
- Hay Maze
- Bounce House
- Spider Ring Toss (new this year)
