Apparently, this is a popular weekend for health and wellness. Yes, the WTHR Health & Fitness Expo is coming up this weekend, too. But while this event from the YMCA won’t feature Andrew Luck, it is more versatile. Instead of taking place in just one area (the State Fairgrounds), this event takes place at all the Y locations around Indianapolis.
It’s called Healthy Kids Day and the Y is holding this event on Saturday, April 27 to help kids exercise both their minds and bodies. The cool part for those of you Cheapsters who are not members of the Y is that the event is FREE to anyone in the community who wants to participate. According to the YMCA’s Family Health Snapshot (which is a parental survey gauging kids’ activity levels during the school year) only 19% of children get 60 minutes of physical activity per day. The percentages of those who read books for fun and eat enough fruits and vegetables are even lower.
The Y is hoping to change that, and FREE events like Healthy Kids Day are a good way to jump start this initiative. We encourage you to click here to read the full press release and find out which activities to expect at which locations. In the meantime, we’ll list the locations and times for Saturday:
