How do we love wine? Let us count the ways. First and most obvious of all, it tastes good with most meals. Whether you prefer a dry, sweet, or somewhere-between flavor, it complements your meal nicely. Second, wine adds a touch of elegance to a meal. While the right drink for a cookout with your friends in the back yard may be a cold beer, wine introduces an element of elegance to the occasion. Third, certain vintages offer great health benefits. Between the antioxidants and the reduction in inflammation, drinking wine can help you live a more fruitful life (pun sadly intended).
Truly, one of the only things better than adding your favorite wine to a meal is adding that wine to your meal on the cheap. That’s why you should take advantage of these opportunities:
Augustino’s: This was a good enough deal that we ran it as a separate post last month. To summarize, Augustino’s holds Wine Wednesdays each week. For just $10 per person, you can come in before dinner and enjoy tastings with no pressure to buy. You’ll sample four to six wines at this exquisite Italian restaurant. Call (317) 865-1099 to make your reservation for the next Wednesday event.
Palomino: This downtown restaurant calls it Wine Down Wednesday, where you can relax knowing you’ve only paid half price for whatever vino you’re drinking.
Detour American Grille: The Geist locations of Detour offer half-price bottles of wine every Wednesday (just like at Palomino). Detour American Grille has a location in Fishers as well, but the Geist location has the full bar available.
Stone Creek Dining Company: The same idea as Palomino and Detour, but the first day of the week is the one getting the love at Stone Creek. Wine bottles costing $100 or less are half-price on Mondays.
