If you make pancakes at home, you know half the fun is creating weird shapes and using toppings to make the pancakes more interesting. We know you don’t often encourage your kids to play with their food, but this month at IHOP could provide a fun exception to the rule. As Halloween approaches, IHOP wants you to be afraid —and also hungry —as they bring back one of their most beloved traditions for kids.
We’re speaking, of course, of the scary face pancakes. As of yesterday (Tuesday, October 1), the “Scary Face” pancake joined the “Just for Kids” section of the menu. It will be staying there all month for kids aged 12 and under. The fun part of this meal is the customization and imagination that goes into it. Kids will be brought one of IHOP’s world famous buttermilk pancakes, and from there will be able to take control. They can use a whipped topping mouth, a glazed strawberry nose, two mini-Oreo cookies to create eyes, and eight pieces of candy corn for teeth or fangs.
Kids can be as imaginative as they like. If your kid wants to create a self-portrait on the pancake, go for it. If they want to unleash their inner Pablo Picasso and put the eyes below the nose, why not? The best part of this deal, however, is that it’s even sweeter on Halloween itself. Just on Thursday, October 31, kids can enjoy a “Scary Face” pancake for FREE (Don’t worry, we’ll remind you when Halloween gets closer).
While the kids enjoy their scary pancakes, we’ll leave off this post by reminding the adults that another seasonal favorite has also reappeared at IHOP. Participating IHOP restaurants are now offering pumpkin pancakes again, giving you yet another reason to love fall.
