Today is one of those weird Halloweens where you wish it wasn’t Halloween. The weather is horrible, most trick or treating has been postponed until tomorrow, and all you want to do is stay indoors this weekend. Shopping would be a fun alternative, but the great deals are showing up on Black Friday and that’s almost a month away. Never fear, however, as we know of three great pre-Black Friday shopping sales going on in the next couple of weeks.
We owe a great deal of credit for this post to Indy FruGal, who gathered these events together in her own column recently. We wanted to let you know which of the events she listed we consider to be the cream of the crop (generally based on who charged the lowest admission). Here are the three we want to highlight for you:
Ladies Evening Out – This event takes place at the Marten House (1801 W. 86th Street) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1. You can stroll through an amazing assortment of items to kick off your Christmas shopping and support local companies. Admission to this event is simply a $5 donation for Project Home Indy, or an unwrapped toy. Registration ends tomorrow (November 1) at 4:00 p.m.
Throwback Threads – Throwback Threads is a semi-annual sale hosted by the Southport Antique Mall (located at 2028 E. Southport Road on the south side of Indy). The event lasts from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 and features FREE admission. The sales throughout the stores actually last from November 8-11, but Saturday is the day for the vintage fashion show, food trucks, and other fun. Customers are invited to dress in vintage attire to match the theme. The first ten customers dressed this way will receive a special discount at Throwback Threads.
Hamilton Town Center – The Hamilton Town Center is kicking off the holidays with the Holiday Festival from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9. It is the same day as Throwback Threads in Southport, but the Holiday Festival goes much later (so you can attend both if you want to shop ’til you drop). The Hamilton Town Center will feature a Kids Zone with face painters, balloon artists, and magicians. Local Indiana bands like My Yellow Rickshaw and Living Proof will also be performing on the main stage. Many retailers will be giving special discounts and offers, and you can finish up the FREE event with a fireworks-laden grand finale.
