But just because we rolling up on last-minute shopping doesn’t mean you have to pay desperate prices. Here are this week’s area sales:
Kroger: USDA Grade A frozen turkeys are 77 cents a pound with your loyalty card and $10 additional purchase. Meaning they want you to pony up for some green beans, potatoes, rolls and cranberries, too. But they’ll settle for a few boxes of Capt. Crunch cereal. Don’t like their generic brand? The Private Selection turkeys are $1.19 a pound, Butterball is $1.49 a pound and Perdue is $1.59 a pound, all with card. Offer good through November 22, limit one.
Meijer: The big M requires a $20 purchase before they’ll talk turkey; since this is also a department store, you could pick up a shower curtain and hit that minimum. All of their grade A turkeys are on sale, regardless of brand, size, fresh or frozen: take $10 off a 10 to 15 pound bird or $17 off a 16 pounder or more. Limit one, price good through November 21. Meijer is also doubling manufacturers coupons up to 50 cents this week.
Marsh: Honeysuckle turkeys (that’s a brand, not a recipe) are 75 cents a pound (a $1.14 savings) with a loyalty card and additional $25 purchase (the stakes get higher). But wait! If your cart totals $100 or more, their flyer offers coupons for free sweet potatoes, green beans, and celery, too. Offer good through November 22, limit one.
Aldi: Yep, Aldi has turkeys. Butterball whole birds are $1.19 a pound, or $7.99 lands you a Kirkwood boneless turkey breast for smaller gatherings. No coupons, no loyalty cards, no limits but these prices expire soonest on November 20.
Gordon Food Service: Yes, they are selling whole hen turkeys for an unbelievable .49 cents a pound with a minimum $25 purchase. Limit one, deal is good until November 21.
