Given that we know most of our Cheapsters will have family plans and plenty of activities already planned over the next few days, we aren’t posting a Weekend Top Five list. If we were, however, Record Store Day would sit atop the list.
In today’s age of iPods, iTunes, and live streaming, plenty of people think the CD is archaic. Now imagine taking another few steps back in time to reach vinyl records. If that thought doesn’t at all confuse you and instead puts a smile on your face, this post is definitely for you.
Record Store Day falls on the third Saturday in April every year, meaning that tomorrow (Saturday April 19) is the big day. Record Store Day is a nationwide event, but the only store we’ve heard for sure is observing it here in town is Indy CD & Vinyl. They have plenty of cool plans, including a live performance tent sponsored by 92.3 FM, Sun King Brewing, Musical Family Tree, and more. You’ll hear live music from bands like The Bonesetters, White Moms, No Coast, Raw McCartney, MaryAnn, Greg Mullen, and more.
Meanwhile, inside the store you’ll find a bunch of new releases in the vinyl section. Click here for a full list of 2014 releases if you’re interested, or just show up tomorrow and peruse at your leisure. Indy CD & Vinyl will be opening early at 8:00 a.m., so you’ll have plenty of time to beef up your record collection.
