Knowing that fans will be cheering on different teams throughout the city this weekend, we wanted to let you know about something everyone can enjoy about the Sweet 16: great restaurant specials. No matter what college you represent on your sweatshirt, we wish you good luck.
Detour American Grille – The Detour location on the corner of Brook School and Fall Creek will be airing Indiana’s Sweet 16 game at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. While you watch the basketball, you can also enjoy the food and drink specials Detour will have available. Here’s the list:
- Garlic teriyaki salmon for just $10
- Half price wings and nachos
- 32-oz. Coors Light and Blue Moon for just $7
- Bottled beers for $3
- Half price bottles of wine
Ale Emporium – This northside restaurant (located at 8617 Allisonville Road) has been offering a special called “The Feast” for every IU game. As IU tips off against Syracuse on Thursday, it stands to reason that the feast will be available once more. Ale Emporium is fairly secretive on the details of the special, but we can tell you that it includes wings, pizza, and beer. And based on the name, we recommend you order it with a group unless you have a very hearty appetite. Ask your server for full details if you go for the Sweet 16.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery: They’re serving up half price mini pizzas and $2 off appetizers (not including snack bites) during game times.
TGI Fridays: This won’t help our out-of-state visitors, but Hoosier fans will love it. TGI Friday’s has a select menu on Thursdays for $3 appetizers and $3 drinks (hint: margaritas and mojitos). The downtown and Keystone locations are open until 1 a.m., making it the perfect meeting spot for a second game tip-off time of 9:45 pm. Greenwood and Avon are open until 11 pm., 38th Street is open until midnight, and Castleton closes at 9 pm, so they’re a first game location only.
Howl at the Moon – For fans of the four teams playing in Indianapolis this weekend, Howl at the Moon wants to be your host while you’re here. Howl at the Moon boasts a high-energy dueling piano show that would be more than happy to take your requests to play your school’s fight song. Whether you cheer for Louisville, Duke, Michigan State, or Oregon (and we salute your dedication if you’ve come this far to cheer on your Ducks), we encourage you to check out Howl at the Moon’s Sweet 16 weekend layout:
- Friday, March 29: Complimentary buffet starting at 5:00 p.m. until it is gone
- Saturday and Sunday (March 30 and 31): Open until 3:00 a.m., featuring FREE food while supplies last
Latitude 39: This East 82nd location will be running food and drink specials every game throughout the weekend as it shows the games on three Jumbotron HD projections in the sports theater. It’s a good idea to call for reservations here: (317) 813-6565.
