If you’re a Superman fan, or merely plan to see Man of Steel, then you’ve circled Friday, June 14 on your calendar for the blockbuster summer review.
But a few real fans will see it the night before, at 7 pm so they don’t have to stumble into work looking like they went three rounds with Kryptonite thanks to Walmart.
The discount superstore is selling passes to this special presentation on Thursday, June 13 at 3,700 locations across the country. That certainly includes stores in the Indianapolis area. This program marks the first time in entertainment history that a studio has partnered with a retailer to provide such an opportunity for fans.
The price? That gets trickier. It varies by location but reflects your area theater prices. So in Greenwood, the cost is $8 for the 2D showing, $11 for 3D.
The ticket comes with other perks as well:
- Priority Purchase of Blu-ray Combo Pack or HD Digital Download: Each ticket bought at Walmart will feature a code on the back that allows customers to preorder their own Blu-ray Combo Pack or HD Digital Download of Man of Steel, which will contain exclusive film content.
- Official “Man of Steel Experience” Mobile App: Fans can bring Superman to life with the official Man of Steel Experience augmented reality app. (Not to be confused with Kellogg’s Man of Steel app also listed right next to it.) The app allows customers to take photos with the superhero, as well as unlock special photo frames by pointing their phone at “Man of Steel” signage in their local Walmart. To download the app please visit: Apple App Store or Google Play. (You don’t need a ticket for this one)
- Exclusive Original Digital Comic Book: Customers will receive a free original digital comic book written by Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer with every ticket.
You may buy up to four tickets per visit. Area Walmarts are reporting sufficient inventory, and tickets are available at the counter in the electronics department.
