This is it. We have only one football game left between now and August. That’s right, the Super Bowl is coming up this weekend (Sunday, February 3 to be exact). The game is being colloquially called the HarBowl, given that it pairs Coach Jim Harbaugh and his San Francisco 49ers against his brother Coach John Harbaugh and his Baltimore Ravens. Whichever side you support in this Super Bowl, the event itself is practically a national holiday. You’re likely either getting together at a friend’s house or you are the host. Either way, keep these local venues in mind for your party planning:
Latitude 39 These north-side newcomers on 82nd Street want you to watch the Super Bowl with them, and they have a compelling argument. As in, a 40 ft. HD television argument. Probably enough said right there with the giant television, but there are also some good prices to match the big occasion. You can enjoy $3 pints of Bud Light and Miller Lite throughout the Super Bowl, as well as pay just $25 per person for an unlimited tailgate buffet that lasts until the start of the 3rd quarter. Come early with your appetite, and you’ll make that deal well worth it.
Daddy Real’s The Place kicks off its Brother Bowl watch party at 3 pm to close with a $12.99 buffet featuring the sports foods you know and love. Other Super Bowl specials include $12 Bud/Bud Light buckets, $5 appetizers, $3.99 house wines and craft beers. Reserved seating is available here.
Chili’s – The Southwest restaurant wants to take care of your at-home Super Bowl football feast. They are offering chicken fajitas for just $5.50 per person and steak fajitas for just $6.50 per person. The party order has to be in increments of eight (8, 16, 24, etc.), but they will throw in FREE rice & beans and chips & salsa for the entire group with every order.
Jet’s Pizza – Jets is another up-and-coming pizza restaurant for Indianapolis. For Super Bowl Sunday only, you can buy any large deep dish pizza at regular price and receive a FREE large deep dish pizza with premium mozzarella cheese and one topping t the Greenwood/Southport location. If you want to go the pizza route, it’ll be tough to beat Jet’s deal. The phone number is 881-5387.
Carrabba’s – If you’re in the mood for pizza but prefer a more authentic Italian restaurant , Carrabba’s is also offering a special on pizzas for the Super Bowl. On Sunday, February 3 only, you can get a wood-fired pizza with up to three toppings for just $5. The special price only applies to Carside Carryout orders, so don’t try to order it while dining in. But since you want to watch the Super Bowl on the big screen, you probably weren’t going to try to eat your pizza there anyway, right?
KFC: They’ve bundled their best sellers into a chicken package fit for any football lover: 8 pieces of chicken (you choose original, extra crispy, grilled or mixed), 8 hot wings and 10 Original Recipe Bites for $19.99. They call it couchgating. We call it saving.
If you just need a place to eat before the game (like, say, for lunch when the TV coverage is still boring), consider these offers:
