If you haven’t enjoyed frozen custard from the distinctive blue buildings of Ritter’s Frozen Custard lately, tonight is a particularly great night to reunite with one of our best local dessert options.
Unfortunately, the background behind tonight’s special night at Ritter’s is a sad story. Many of you probably already know of the families in Franklin who were struck by tragedy recently, but we’ll provide a short review for any Cheapsters who haven’t heard.
Last week, five Franklin Community High School students were having fun at the Blue River Dam. One of the five went over the edge, prompting the others to go after her. The good news is that two emerged from the water okay. Unfortunately, the story didn’t have a happy ending for the rescuers, and all the families of those involved are obviously dealing with a great deal of pain right now.
Nobody can make up for that kind of loss, but Ritter’s Frozen Custard is offering a way for the local community rally around these families. If you stop by tonight between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (at Ritter’s locations in Franklin and Greenwood), your purchase will benefit the families. 10% of all the proceeds collected during that time will be donated to the FCHS family fund. In addition, both locations will have jars where people can donate money on the side.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the families, and we hope that in sharing this post, we can do our small part in helping to support them during this tragic time.
