The month of October continues, and with it all the pink gear. Probably the most jarring reminder that this month is for the Cure is seeing the splashes of pink colors on the NFL players’ jerseys, but you’ll see pink everywhere this month if you look. October is the biggest month of fundraisers for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and several restaurants are getting in on the action to raise money for breast cancer research.
We’ll begin with Tijuana Flats in Fishers. Tijuana Flats offers two ways to help raise money for the Cure this month. For starters, you can buy a bottle of Just in Queso Hot Sauce to “add fire to the fight.” A bottle costs $5, and Tijuana Flats will donate $3 from every bottle purchased to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Alternatively, you can “make it pink” by ordering your meal with a pink tortilla. The pink tortilla costs $1 extra, and the revenue surplus will also be donated. You’ll be helping those battling breast cancer, while also enjoying a taco with a cool pink shell.
Several other restaurants offering fundraisers for the Cure this month are all under the same banner of Lux Restaurants. These restaurants include Binkley’s, Broad Ripple Tavern, Elbow Room Pub, Meridian Restaurant, and Nickel Plate Bar & Grill. Come in every Tuesday in October (October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29) with flyers and Lux Restaurants will donate 15% of your meal to Susan G. Komen. While each restaurant’s donation and rules may differ, the general idea is to download and print off this flyer and bring it to any of the participating restaurants between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the Tuesdays of October.
Next up is Latitude 39, whose deal is actually more about entertainment than food. Every Thursday during the month of October is designated as Pretty in Pink-Tober Ladies Night. In addition to drink specials ($3 house wines and $3 select martinis), ladies can also enjoy FREE dance lessons and massages at Latitude 39.
Finally, Ram Restaurant & Brewery is fighting to end breast cancer with a fundraiser associated with its pink drinks. When you purchase a strawberry pink margarita, a raspberry blonde skinny beer, a Bacardi pink mojito, or a pink cosmo with Finlandia, $1 from each drink will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
