If you have never been to a food swap, you’ve never experienced a fun and unique event. Registration is opening at 7:00 a.m. today (on Tuesday, October 29) for the next food swap event at Indianapolis City Market. The Indy Food Swappers food swap will last from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturda,y November 16. This group holds food swaps every other month, and they are a fun experience for everyone who participates.
This post could go on for paragraphs about the specifics of how these events work, but we will stay succinct. If you want to know all these details, click here to check the Indy Food Swappers FAQ. The basic idea, however, is that you bring your own food item(s) with you. These food items could be jams, jellies, bread, pies, fudge, spice mixes, home-brewed soda, foraged mushrooms, cookies, or anything else you can think of. How much you bring is up to you, but the more you bring, the more you have to trade.
No one exchanges money at a food swap, but works like an auction with bidding. Again, check out the FAQ for the full rundown on the procedures. As nobody exchanges money, admission to this event is FREE. However, there is a limited amount of space. For that reason, you have to register ahead of time to book a spot. These food swaps fill up, so we encourage you to register (start by clicking here) early.
