Did you know that the first historical reference to tacos came in 1520 when Hernando Cortez wrote to the king of Spain to mention a scrumptious meal the Aztecs prepared? We didn’t either until we started learning more about the upcoming National Taco Day on Thursday October 4. Luckily for our Cheapsters, a few of the Mexican restaurants around town are also aware of the coming holiday, and are offering some delicioso deals to match:
Don Pablo’s: This one requires a little bit of effort from you. Right now, Don Pablo’s is emailing out coupons to their most loyal customers. The coupons entitle them to one FREE taco with the purchase of an entree on Thursday October 4. In order to make it on to that list of most loyal customers, you have to ask for an Habaneros Club Rewards Card from the restaurant. Afterward, you go to this link and register your card. This coupon and many others will start flying to your inbox. For example, you’ll also receive a FREE Dip Sampler just for joining.
La Hacienda: This Mexican Bar and Grill has two locations in town. You can choose from 5625 Lawton Loop East Drive in East Indy and 12237 North Meridian Street in Carmel for this deal. Show up between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday October 4 for a FREE taco. There is a limit of one per person, but otherwise no restrictions on this one.
Tijuana Flats: This Tex-Mex restaurant known for its fresh food and anything-goes atmosphere is also offering a discount. All day on October 4, tacos are only $2 (though there is an upcharge of 5o cents per taco for steak or carnitas). So, at $2 a pop, devour as many tacos as you like at this restaurant. Tijuana Flats only has one location in the Indianapolis area, so head up to 7834 East 96th Street in Fishers.
