Back in 1983, Representative Robert S. Walker made a declaration. The politician must’ve been a big fan of pretzels, because he declared April 26 as National Pretzel Day. The commemorative day was re-declared by Governor Ed Rendell in 2003, and pretzel fans have been looking forward to National Pretzel Day every year since.
Well, the pivotal week is here at last, and Pretzelmaker locations nationwide are celebrating the annual tradition. On Friday, April 26, you can visit any participating Pretzelmaker location and enjoy a FREE soft pretzel in recognition of the event. To add an interesting “twist” to the day, Pretzelmaker encourages you to tell your favorite joke when you order to claim the freebie. If you just don’t possess a funny bone, though, you can simply say “National Pretzel Day” to receive the FREE pretzel – it just won’t be as funny that way. If you’d like, you can borrow our joke: “Two pretzels were walking down the street. One was as’salt’ed.”
Anyway, you can choose from a standard salted or an unsalted pretzel for your freebie. The Pretzelmaker in Indianapolis is located at 10202 E. Washington Street. The phone number is (317) 890-0072.
