Today is the start of something wonderful for active military in the Indianapolis area. Heck, this is good news when you go on vacation, too.
Between now and Labor Day, more than 2,000 museums across America offer FREE admission to our nation’s service members and up to five family members. (That includes a spouse or child, aunts, uncles, grandparents.) The participants are known as Blue Star Museums, which is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense.
And in central Indiana, we’re talking about the museums already on your to-do list with the kids:
Conner Prairie
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
Indiana Historical Society/Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center
Indiana Medical History Museum
Indianapolis Museum of Art
Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library
NCAA Hall of Champions
If you’re still deployed, never fear. Your family is still eligible — just bring your DD Form 1173 ID Card, or DD Form 1173-1 ID Card, for active duty military family members. And there’s no limit to how many times you visit museums, either.
It adds up to an amazing savings, and trust me — we owe you even more for your service. But accept this as a start.
