Fans of the Indianapolis 500 know that Ed Carpenter won the pole for this year’s running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Since the age of eight, Ed Carpenter grew up in Indianapolis, even graduating from Butler University. In a city famous for racing, he is a true homegrown hero. He has finished in the Top 10 twice at the Indy 500, and has dreams of eventually taking the checkered flag.

He will be appearing at the Royal Theater in Danville from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. He will be there for a photo op and will be giving out autographs and hero cards.
At 7:00 p.m., the Royal Theater is showing Turbo, the movie about the snail (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) that has aspirations of racing in the Indy 500. Ed Carpenter will be taking part in the film introduction leading into the movie. Whether you or your kids want to see Turbo, you won’t want to miss this chance to meet Ed Carpenter.
