Have you ever wondered how Labor Day came to be? It wasn’t originally designed to be a symbolic last holiday of summer, and it wasn’t a nod to delivering babies. In fact, Labor Day was designed to celebrate the economic and social contributions of workers. It was first recognized nationally in 1894 as an attempt to pacify unionists following the Pullman Strike.
The way we see it, however, you work pretty hard. You’ve probably made a social contribution at some point or another. For that reason alone, you’ve earned the perks that go with Labor Day. A day off is just the beginning:
Half Price Books – Through Monday, September 2, you can enjoy a storewide 20% off. Considering Half Price Books is already quite discounted, the books there are practically a steal this weekend.
Snapfish – Snapfish is offering penny prints for the photos you’ve taken over the summer. Just use the code PRINTS9913 to claim 99 prints for just 99 cents (one cent per photo). This code can be used up to three times, but the code is only valid through Sunday, September 1.
American Eagle – Remember to use the code 74693461 between now and Wednesday, September 11 to take 40% off everything when you shop online.
Half Price Books: Through Monday, September 2, everything in the store is 20% off. You can stock up not only on affordable books, but CDs, stationery items, Christmas cards, and the occasional fun reading gadget.
Kohl’s is doing its Kohl’s Cash credits ($10 credit for every $50 you spend, to use between September 3 and 15) in addition to sales that include price slashes on clearance items.
And on the food side:
Cheap premium movies: Pay just $6 for an RPX (that’s how they spell upscale, plush seats and added amenities) ticket at Regal Cinema, which can normally cost as much as $18.50 The $6 deal is for Regal Crown Club members, which is FREE to join.
