Whether your kids wake you up at the crack of dawn or sometime before that, that excitement beneath the tree the morning after next will likely be the only thing you have scheduled for the morning. However, we know that not every Cheapster has kids at home for Christmas morning, and this post is a suggestion for those who don’t. If your morning is open, consider volunteering at Kountry Kitchen.
Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place is holding a special Christmas dinner starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. They are inviting guests from those less fortunate in our community, and they need as many volunteers as they can get to serve these guests. If you are interested in volunteering and bringing some joy to others in Indianapolis (they are expecting several thousand diners to pick up a meal to go), call the Kountry Kitchen volunteer line at 317-414-9554. Volunteers will be expected on Christmas morning at 7:00 a.m.
If your morning is occupied but you still want to help Kountry Kitchen, they are also accepting donations of hats, gloves and socks. Most places will be closed Christmas Day, but that’s when Kountry Kitchen launches one of its biggest events of the year.
Kountry Kitchen is at 1831 North College Avenue.
