Whether or not you’re a fan of horses, there’s still plenty to be interested in when it comes to the Kentucky Derby. Compared to the long and drawn out race at the Indianapolis 500, the Kentucky Derby is two minutes of pure excitement. The competitive sort can gamble on the outcome of the race, horse lovers can watch the majestic animals perform, and everyone else can at least giggle at all the fun hats on display.
Of course, attending the Kentucky Derby can be an expensive entertainment choice for two minutes of racing. If you want to enjoy the race on the cheap, you should consider reserving a spot at Rita’s Backyard for the Kentucky Derby Tea. Located at 12244 East 116th Street, Rita’s Backyard functions as a garden center, a tea room, and a gift shop. The tea room will be open with a special menu that you can view by clicking here for Kentucky Derby Tea on Saturday, May 4. The meal costs $19.95 per person, and you’ll receive an entree, dessert, and your choice of beverage. And of course, Virgin Mint Juleps will be on that list of beverages.
The Kentucky Derby tea is at 1:00 p.m. Seating begins at 11:00 a.m., and you’ll need to make reservations ahead of time to attend. You can do so by calling them at 317-842-0235 or you can email rita@ritasbackyard.com. From there, just grab your fancy hat and prepare for the race for the roses.
