The holidays can be a time of warmth, comfort, and happiness. If you have fallen on hard times, however, the holidays can be far darker and colder. The Indy Fire Rescue House understands this, having seen plenty of families negatively affected by residential fires. Last holiday season, they adopted 10 such families, raising money and collecting supplies to provide a joyous holiday to the children in those families.
As charitable as they were last year, the Indy Fire Rescue House wants to help even more this year. Their goal is to adopt 15 Hoosier families in 2013 and bring smiles to their faces in spite of the fires that damaged their homes. You have the ability to help the Fire Rescue House achieve that goal, and it doesn’t take much to help. The following is the list of items the Indy Fire Rescue House needs to accomplish their goal:
- Gift card donations to Target, Walmart, Meijer, and Kroger
- New and unopened toys for boys and girls of various ages
- Wrapping paper and tape
- Cash donations (which can be made through the Fire Rescue House website or by clicking here)
- Volunteers to wrap and distribute presents
If you don’t have much extra money this year, volunteering your time can be just as valuable as a physical donation. Our goal is to keep saving our Cheapsters money, and we will never encourage folks to specifically donate money they can’t afford to any fundraiser. If you feel driven to help, however, consider this your opportunity.
