With Valentine’s Day coming up at the end of this week, the color of the week is most definitely red. When you look at the month of February as a whole, however, Black History Month comes to mind. One of the many celebrations of African-American history includes a FREE performance from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and it’s open to the public.
If you want to take in some of the most beautiful music our city has to offer, you won’t want to miss the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in action at the Hilbert Circle Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11. This is the Celebration of Black History Concert, and it is conducted by a 30-year veteran in music ministry in Kevin McBeth. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will be performing a variety of classical works, hymns, spirituals, and music from prominent African-American composers.
As an added bonus, local MC Tony Styxx will also be on hand to perform a song from his newest album. If you are a lover of gorgeous music, it doesn’t get any better around here than the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. You can’t beat FREE, so don’t miss tomorrow evening’s concert.
