Some of the obscure holidays (i.e. Talk Like a Pirate Day or National Taco Week) seem to be thrown on the calendar haphazardly. National Ice Cream Month, however, makes perfect sense. After all, what better month than July to break out the double scoops of ice cream and hold ice cream socials in the middle of the city?
We can’t think of any better time, and neither can the American Dairy Association. They are hosting the 24th annual Ice Cream Social this Friday, July 12. From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., you can join in the fun at the ice cream social on the southeast quadrant of Monument Circle in the center of downtown Indianapolis. The best part of the ice cream social is of course the ice cream, and you’ll be able to choose from a variety of toppings that even include Girl Scout cookies.
The event doesn’t hurt for side entertainment, however. You’ll see mascots, face painters, interactive games, the Pacers Fan Van, and of course local media personalities and sports figures serving up the sundaes. You’ll even see real cows (Molly and her calves) from Purdue Dairy Sciences. To attend the ice cream social and enjoy all this entertainment, you only need $3 per person. The proceeds will all benefit the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana.
