This weekend, many areas of town will be starting the Fourth of July Week early with regional celebrations. Perhaps the biggest of these events is the 2013 Hendricks County RibFest. The fun on the west side of town begins at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Kingsway Christian Church (located at 100 N and Dan Jones).
The only parts of the evening you’ll have to pay for will be parking and any food or beverages you enjoy. The rest of RibFest is FREE, and there will be plenty to see and do. To start with, the food will be delicious. Obviously, there will be ribs. You can also find delicious pulled pork, elephant ears, popcorn, strawberry shortcake, and more. The rib vendors (all vying for the title of Best Ribs at RibFest) will include Big Earl’s , Delia’s, Ande Rib & Seafood, Devine Bar B Cue, and Hurricane Grill & Wings.
Once you get past the food, you’ll find plenty of other fun things going on at RibFest. The kids will enjoy a visit from Radio Disney at 6:00 p.m., as well as FREE games, abounce house, an obstacle course, and more. Everyone can enjoy music from live bands according to the following schedule:
5:30 p.m.: Deep Fried Pickle Project (kid-oriented)
6:30 p.m.: Barometer Soup
8:25 p.m.: Cook & Bell
Finally, the night will conclude in a powerful way with a fireworks show. Once darkness falls, the pyrotechnics will begin. You can fill up on a succulent dinner of ribs before taking in all the colors several days before July 4 even arrives.
