Will he or won’t he?
Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, and the Super Bowl is this weekend. It’s easy to see that these two events are generating all the attention right now. But before either of those days come to pass, we will celebrate Groundhog Day on Saturday, February 2.
We forgive you for forgetting. Groundhog Day is the sort of holiday that many people skip, likely because it’s rather silly. If there truly were a correlation between one groundhog seeing his shadow and six more weeks of winter, Hallmark would sell cards. Not to mention, there are records of all sorts of groundhog reactions around the country every year, and they don’t all agree.
Still, whether or not you believe that Groundhog Day is a genuine predictor for our upcoming weather, there are deals to take advantage of for this holiday. The two we’ve found are brought to you by Sonic and Seattle’s Best Coffee. Here are the details:
Sonic – America’s Drive-in has a simple-enough deal for you on Groundhog Day. Just drive in all day on Saturday, February 2 and you can buy half price footlong hot dogs. And rest assured, they are just like normal hot dogs and not made out of groundhog meat or anything.
Seattle’s Best – This one is not quite as simple, but still quite worth it. Seattle’s Best is basing the deal on whether the groundhog sees his shadow. Given our early mentioning of multiple groundhogs seeing things differently, we aren’t sure on which groundhog the coffee franchise is basing the deal. Either way, you have a 50% chance of winning. Just sign up at the Seattle’s Best Facebook page between now and Friday, February 1. Seattle’s Best will give away 10,000 samples of coffee to some lucky Cheapsters who signed up if the groundhog of their choice sees his shadow and predicts six more weeks of winter. The thoughtful premise here is that you deserve FREE coffee if you have to endure more winter.
So, now you have more reasons than just the Bill Murray movie to look forward to Groundhog Day. Even if the little guy sees his shadow again.
