If you’re still looking for some fun entertainment over the weekend up on the north side, you should race on over Saturday September 29 for the Grand Junction Funktion in downtown Westfield. In a city famous around the world for the Indianapolis 500, Westfield enjoys hosting its own wacky interpretation along its main drag – South Union Street. You can partake of the FREE entertainment in watching homemade derby cars compete in gravity-powered races organized into bracketed heats.
You can enjoy the Classic Class, with normal-looking cars competing for speed, or you can check out the Creative Class where anything goes in car design. The event lasts from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will also feature live music as well as food and drink vendors along the street. It may be several months until the next Indy 500, but you can get your racing fix this weekend in Westfield for no charge.
