If you happen to be headed to another city and get snowed out of a return or you don’t like the price of an airline ticket to your destination and would like to split up the transportation into more affordable chunks, train travel could be a way to extend your vacation.
Now through Jan. 27, Amtrak passengers can book a winter getaway for up to 20 percent off of one-way fares on every long-distance train route for travel between Jan. 22 and April 16, 2014.
The sale is valid on all 15 Amtrak long-distance trains. Seats and times are limited. To take advantage of these low one-way fares, reservations are required a minimum of seven days in advance before traveling. Tickets are non-refundable and some blackout dates apply. The discounted fare is only valid on coach seats and cannot be used on accommodation upgrades.
