It’s family time at the movies this week.
We have 2 showings of How to Train Your Dragon 2 coming up:
Saturday, June 7 (that’s 3 days from now!)
11 AM
Studio Movie Grill
Tuesday, June 10
7 PM
AMC Castleton Square
Indy on the Cheap has a minimum of 15 admit-four tickets to each showing to give away, and it’s possible we may have more secretly loaded into the system throughout the day, so keep trying!
So, here’s how to get yours: If you are an Indy on the Cheap subscriber, we have set the newsletter feed to send you a special message today (Wednesday, June 4) AT NOON to give you the secret code for the Saturday showing. (As we now say in our disclaimer after getting burned a few months back, this is an approximate time. It’s what we put on the timer, but it can vary.) Tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, at an unannounced time, we will email a second, separate message for the Tuesday showing.
Both email messages will contain the secret passcode. You then want to click here to enter the code and download your tickets. If you don’t have an account at Gofobo. com, you might want to get that set up today so you don’t lose time tomorrow creating an account.
For that matter, if you want the passcode tomorrow morning, you can sign up to get our Monday – Friday newsletter in the top right hand corner of this page, and that way, you’ll stay up to date on all the new posts we put up every 24 hours. It’s also FREE because that’s our favorite word. Plus, since we’re donating .50 per subscriber this month to a family whose newborn son will need heart surgery next month, you’re doing a good deed, too.
And, as the other disclaimer, a pass is not a seat guarantee, so get to the theater before the start time; some movies start lining up as early as 90 minutes in advance. Because this movie is so popular, we ask that if you can’t use tickets should you be among the first 15 families, please return them through the Gofobo system so someone else has an opportunity.
Here’s what you can expect:

Gofobo site wasn’t working. I had a pass, I was in with the RSVP CODE and I tried to login and I had to get tech support help with my account. Of course the Saturday passes were gone once they fixed it. Any chance of getting other passes? My kids are really excited and due to my work schedule I can’t go any other time. I’m so upset, I emailed gofobo, but I’d really appreciate your help if possible.

I am so sorry for your trouble and the disappointment it caused. I’ve checked with our contact at Allied Media, which handles PR and screening passes for the movie. They said that because we ran out so quickly, if they have leftover tickets from other venues, they’ll move them over to us. But, of course, we have to wait to see if that happens. My advice would be to check it the link and this passcode periodically. I can say, also, that while Allied will overbook adult movies (knowing that some people simply can’t show up or forget), they do not over-distribute for kid movies. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than to turn away a child because there simply are no more seats in the theater. — Julie

Awesome! And for everyone else reading this … there may be five more sets of tickets left for Saturday, hint, hint. Or, at least there were about an hour ago. Try your luck!

Went to the last “FREE” ticket event at Castleton AMC and they don’t tell you in the free tickets that it is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE! We were placed in a line that we knew (and the theater staff knew) we would not get in due to capacity regulations. To much disappointment, we left and didn’t wait.

I’m so sorry your experience wasn’t a positive one. We’ve been to quite a few of these movie screenings, working the ticket scanning and at the doors, and there are a lot of pass holders who are eager to see the film. I had to be the one on hand to tell the end of the line one time that there were no more seats, and I thought I was going to cry. That’s why we always include the phrase “And, as the other disclaimer, a pass is not a seat guarantee, so get to the theater before the start time; some movies start lining up as early as 90 minutes in advance.” on our posts to try to make sure folks are aware of the situation. — Julie
