Long before Avengers and the Dark Knight Rises made their billions of dollars in revenue from the big screen productions, fans followed their favorite super heroes through comic books. And while actors change and plots are re-booted in the movies (Spiderman turns into The Amazing Spiderman in about ten years, for example), comic books continue their long run. Some fans buy comic books just to read the entertaining stories while others collect them and try to keep them in mint condition for selling back later. Regardless of your intentions, however, FREE Comic Book Day is an event we imagine you’ll enjoy.
One day out of every year, comic book stores nationwide (and even internationally) participate — anyone who comes into the stores on these days receive FREE comic books just for stopping by. The date always falls on the first Saturday in May each year. That means this year, FREE Comic Book Day lands on Saturday, May 4.
Obviously, not every local comic book shop gets into this promotion, but we’ve gathered the list of participating shops here in the Indianapolis area. You’ll of course want to check for their individual hours and rules for FREE Comic Book Day. Here’s the list (all addresses are in Indianapolis):
