You have probably seen the sign underneath the Golden Arches at McDonald’s proudly proclaiming “billions and billions served.” Redbox may not yet be the beacon of capitalism that McDonald’s is, but they have certainly made a good run in their relatively short business life. Just recently, Redbox rented its three billionth disc (written digitally, this is disc # 3,000,000,000) at a Walgreens in Littleton, Colorado. In case you were curious, the movie was The Call.
It’s hard to imagine three billion of anything in this world. We would wager that even the Rob Thomas song “Smooth” hasn’t been played three billion times (though it’s probably close). Luckily for us, however, we don’t have to try to imagine selling that many discs. We just to get to reap the benefits of the generous freebie Redbox is giving to say thank you.
Just for today (Thursday, August 1), you can find a FREE promotional code at the Redbox Facebook page that is valid for a one-day FREE movie or video game rental. You can use the code at any Redbox location. Considering more than 68% of the US population lives within five minutes of a Redbox (and that’s including the folks out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming and New Mexico), that shouldn’t be too hard of a freebie to use.
