Yo, Cheapsters, what up in our neighborhood?
Okay, I’m going to stop while I’m ahead and just move on with this post about the Money Matters Music Mogul Hip Hop contest and how you can support a scholarship to benefit teens by downloading an album. Lets start at the beginning. Charles Schwab partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to promote personal finance curriculum. What makes this program unique and fun is that it involved aspiring artists from the Boys & Girls Clubs sharing personal finance tips through raps and hip hop. These artists wrote recorded their own hip hop songs and competed for the honor of being Grand Champion.
That may seem a strange combination, but it’s effective and highly interesting. I encourage you to click here to see the music video of the Grand Prize winner (rapping “Money All That Matters”). And not to brag too much about our city, but Blake McGuire (the Grand Champion) comes from Indianapolis. Personally, I love the line in there about “working hard all day, putting money in the bank and towards my 401k.”
On a completely serious note, you can download Blake’s hip hop song along with seven other artists’ on the M4: Money Matters Music Moguls album. Besides adding funny educational rap songs to your iTunes list, you’ll also be supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the album downloads will be added to the M4 Scholarship Fund to benefit teens featured on the album.
