Tally this post under the grouping of titles that make you blink a couple of times. The Great Cow Drop? Okay, allow us to explain. The Greenwood Public Library is partnering with Chick-fil-A for a fundraising event in about a week-and-a-half called the Great Cow Drop. The money raised from ticket sales will support Friends of the Greenwood Public Library, a nonprofit organization funding FREE programs and other events at the library.
So, the money is going to a good cause, but we still haven’t told you what is entailed in the Great Cow Drop. Don’t worry – no real cows are going to be thrown. Plush mini cows dressed in custom jerseys and wearing parachutes will drop from a helicopter. You can purchase tickets for $10 to see the show, take home a mini plush cow of your own, and enter in a prize-drawing raffle (prizes include a Nook HD+, Chick-fil-A for a year, and more). Otherwise, you can pay $2 just to be admitted to the event itself.
The Great Cow Drop event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 27 and takes place at Greenwood Middle School. The address is 523 South Madison Avenue in Greenwood, and it is next to the library. Silly Safaris will kick off the show at 10:15 a.m. before the cows take to the air. You can purchase tickets at the Greenwood Public Library, or at the Chick-fil-A restaurants located at Greenwood Park Mall and at South State Road 135. You have just over a week to MOO-ve it into one of those locations and buy tickets for a fun Saturday event.
