Starting this Thursday, September 11 (an easy day to remember, we know), Indy will be tapping its feet to all that jazz. Indy Jazz Fest 2014 arrives on the scene here in the city, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to hear great music. Jazz is very difficult to define – it spans a range of music that developed over 100 years with a great deal of variety – but it’s easier to define ways to enjoy this ten-day festival on the cheap.
The best strategy we can give you if you want to hear stirring jazz music without breaking your monthly budget is to take advantage of a handful of FREE concerts. You may not see headliners like local hero Josh Kaufman, the Claire Daly Quartet, and Maceo Parker, but it’s hard to beat FREE.
Here’s the lineup of FREE shows and workshops going on during Indy Jazz Fest 2014:
Thursday, September 11 – The Indy Jazz Fest Band performs at 7:00 p.m. at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center at the University of Indianapolis.
