You remember those song lyrics (OK, so you think the B52s introduced it. We’ll forgive you; we like their version better anyhow): “You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares, and go downtown, things will be great when you’re downtown!” Between Friday July 27th and Sunday August 12th, you can take part in Indianapolis’ biggest showcase of food and drink: Devour Downtown. This bi-annual event is sponsored by Republic National Distributing Company, and features 45 restaurants downtown offering three courses for reduced prices. So whatever your cares may be (wanting an upscale evening with your significant other, wondering what the food tastes like at a specific restaurant) this will be the perfect opportunity to “go downtown” and enjoy. You can find full menu details for the numerous participating restaurants by following the link, but here are a few examples to whet your appetite:
- Harry and Izzy’s (153 S. Illinois Street): 3-course dinner with appetizer, entree, and dessert for $35 per person.
- Fogo de Chao (117 E. Washington Street): 3-course dinner with salad bar, entree (with traditional Brazilian sides), and dessert for $35 per person
- Circle City Bar & Grille (350 W. Maryland Street): 4-course dinner with appetizer, soup or salad, entree, and ice cream for dessert for $30 per person or $45 per person if you include wine pairings.
- Slippery Noodle (372 S. Meridian Street): Two meals including soup or salad, two 3 oz. Filet Medallions served with baked potato, dinner roll and butter, and turtle pecan cheesecake for $30.
