Conner Prairie is a fun place to visit all year-round. Those of you Cheapsters who have been following us since we started earlier this year remember us posting ways for you to save money on Symphony on the Prairie concerts held there during the summer and early fall. Now with Christmas coming up, Conner Prairie has revived another annual tradition – the Gingerbread Village.
You don’t have to pay any extra on top of normal admission to gain access to the Gingerbread Village, in spite of the fact that your visit will be enhanced by the wonderful creations. You can view all the gingerbread creations from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday until January 6, 2013. Up until the end of last week, interested people could vote to help name the People’s Choice Award recipient.
Now that voting has closed, however, you can explore and see which creations won which awards. Each of these houses and structures have stories behind them. Each has also been carefully built by an amateur or professional builder. It’s one of the cooler displays you’ll see this time of year, reflecting the creativity in our community. So keep Conner Prairie in mind the rest of this month. You still have a few weeks left to go see the Gingerbread Village for yourself.
