Even if you aren’t a big sports fan, you’re probably aware that Team USA survived the “Group of Death” at the World Cup and moved on to the Sweet Sixteen. It’s win or go home now for our soccer players in the red, white, and blue against the might of Belgium. The big game starts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, and our local team is getting involved in supporting our national team.
The Indy Eleven invite you to head to Mass Ave downtown tomorrow for a huge watch party. The gates at Mass Ave will open to the general public at 2:00 p.m. so that fans can set up lawn chairs and blankets in front of three big screen televisions in the area. Admission to this party will be FREE, and you’re more than welcome to bring personal coolers. You’ll be able to get autographs from Indy Eleven players, purchase snacks and beverages from food trucks onsite, and of course cheer on Team USA in its efforts to make the Quarterfinals.
Even parking is FREE at Old National Centre on New Jersey Street.
Carmel is also hosting a party in the streets at Main Street and the Monon. You bring a blanket/chair and they’ll bring the big screen. We expect the USA chant here to be loud and proud. And Simon Malls? Yep, they’re serving as gathering points. Circle Centre Mall, for instance, will hold its watch party at the Andy Mohr Speedway Chevrolet Recharge Lounge on Level 3.
This tournament only comes along once every four years, and Team USA wants to take advantage of its chance at winning it all. You can always watch the game at home, or take advantage of one of these area restaurant deals, but Mass Ave will be a fun place to enjoy the game with your fellow Americans. We hope to see you there tomorrow.
