One of the sweetest events of the summer is happening today in the heart of our city. From 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today on Monument Circle, you can enjoy the 49th annual Strawberry Festival. The event is hosted every year by Christ Church Cathedral Women, and has been going strong since 1965.
The biggest draw to the Strawberry Festival is, of course, the strawberries themselves. $7 buys you the Works, which includes shortcake, strawberries, whipped topping, and ice cream. Alternatively, you can order items a la carte (for $2) throughout the day as long as supplies last. Carryout orders begin at 8:30 a.m., with entertainment arriving at Monument Circle by 10:00 a.m. More than 300 volunteers are expected, and they will all be needed to serve up the estimated six tons of strawberries and 18,000 homemade shortcakes.
