If you recall from A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge was obsessed with money, hoarding his coins and “bah humbug”-ing his way through life. Perhaps he would’ve been in better spirits if he had converted some of those coins for a bonus at Toys R Us. Perhaps that isn’t the main message Charles Dickens was trying to tell, but then he didn’t have Coinstars in his world.
From now through Sunday, December 15, you can cash in $40 or more in coins for a Toys R Us eGift card and you will receive a $10 bonus. On the surface, $40 sounds like a ton of coins. If you trade that amount in with quarters, it’s 160 pictures of George Washington. You may not have that lying around in your couch cushions, but you could always stop by the local bank and trade in your paper money for coin rolls.
Once you have the coins, take them to Coinstar kiosks at one of Indy’s three Safeway locations (2176 Shelby Street, 3008 Kessler Blvd., or 2120 W. Morris St.).
Apply your transaction toward a Toys R Us eGift card, and you will receive a bonus on your card of $10. As long as you’re willing to bring the coins, that’s $10 extra that you can spend on Christmas gifts at Toys R Us. And that would bring a smile to anyone’s face (including Mr. Scrooge).
