You have to hand it to Broad Ripple for thinking outside the box. The hip Indy village seemed to pick up on how most of the suburbs of Indianapolis held their holiday festivals over the past few weekends. Now that all of them have had their say, Broad Ripple is ready to have its moment in the limelight without having to share with other locations. No, Broad Ripple is the place to be tomorrow for the Broad Ripple Lights Up festival.
The Broad Ripple Lights Up festival begins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14. Children will be delighted by visits with Santa and an interactive kids Wonderland activity village. At 5:30 p.m., the focus turns to the city’s only twilight parade through the heart of the Broad Ripple Village. At 6:00 p.m., Santa Claus will arrive at the local firehouse. As most of these town festivals around the holidays go, Broad Ripple Lights Up concludes with a light display that includes a 21-ft. Christmas tree.
The weather will be substantially cooler for the Broad Ripple festival than the others we’ve discussed in our posts the past few weeks. However, the shops in Broad Ripple will have their doors open so that you can step out of the cold whenever you need to warm up throughout the day’s festivities. The whole community will be coming together for this FREE and family-friendly holiday event, so we hope to see you enjoying all the fun.
