For 45 years, Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo has been a beloved holiday tradition. That tradition begins again today, as Christmas at the Zoo kicks off on the evening of Black Friday. It seems fitting, given how the door-buster sales turn ordinarily-docile shoppers into wild animals, that the day should conclude with all the real thing.
Going forward, you can enjoy Christmas at the Zoo from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday from now through December 29. It will also be available on December 23 and 30. You’ll notice the difference immediately, as the grounds are covered in lights and festive decorations. You can continue to enjoy the spirit of the season with a special visit to Santa’s Workshop (presented by Chick-fil-A — the visit is FREE but you can, of course, buy photo packages), a viewing of a special dolphin show, a ride on the Holiday Train Ride, and of course all the animals.
If staying out late with the animals and carolers sounds like your cup of tea, we want you to know that tonight is opening night and promises to be an excellent time. It’s a lot of extra holiday spirit for the regular admission price. But you don’t have to pay that. Discount tickets are available at these Donato’s locations, (and Teacher’s Credit Union branches), buy online to save, or bring a new hat, scarf or glove donation for the Mitten Donation Tree that supports our local St. Mary’s Child Center to get your discount at the gate.
We hope to see you there tonight and throughout the Christmas season.
