It’s natural to feel a little blue as we wrap up the second straight month of winter (especially a winter as cold and snowy as this one). The deprivation of daylight and the inability to go outside and stretch your legs can bring anyone down a notch or two. Sometimes, even if you know how to lead a healthy lifestyle, it helps to have a reminder from a different voice with a unique perspective. If you’d like to join with other Cheapsters in hearing more about how to Be Your Best Self, the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center is in the middle of a workshop series now that might interest you.
If you aren’t particularly familiar with the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, it is a resource center where families and individuals can get connected, and improve their futures. In that way, this mental (and physical) health workshop series is right in line with the center’s goals. The workshop series began with its first of five sessions on February 12, but there are still three sessions that you’re welcome to attend. Here are the topics covered at each of the three remaining sessions:
Wednesday, February 26: Health Body. You can learn Yoga for FREE.
Wednesday, March 5: Healthy Nutrition. You’ll learn basic nutrition, how to read food labels, and how to make good choices on a budget. There will even be a cooking demonstration.
Wednesday, March 12: Get Connected. You’ll learn about Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center services, and how to apply for public assistance.
