They don’t call a certain type of swimming motion the ‘dog-paddle’ for nothing. Many dogs love to swim, though our pets probably don’t have too many opportunities for swimming in our city. Indianapolis is landlocked and very few pool owners want their beloved canines swimming laps like Michael Phelps with fur. If you drop by The Waterpark at the Monon Community Center & Central Park (1235 Central Park Drive East in Carmel), you can let your four-legged friend off the leash for a social swim with the other dogs of the community. The fun lasts from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday September 8, and features the following schedule:
- 12:30 – 1:00 Small Dog Swim (25 lbs. or less)
- 1:00 – 1:15 Fun Dog Activity
- 1:15 – 1:45 All Dog Swim
- 1:45 – 2:00 Fun Dog Activity
- 2:00 – 3:00 All Dog Swim
The cost to attend is $6 for dogs, while humans may attend for FREE. You will find plenty of vendors and food while your dog frolics all afternoon in the pool. You can check out the Barktember Facebook Page for more details on this fun weekend event.
