Citizens of Avon host an annual festival celebrating their western suburb every year, and the 2012 edition is this Saturday September 29. As it’s run almost entirely by volunteers, you can enjoy much of the numerous festivities for FREE. The headquarters of the Avon Heritage Festival are at the Washington Township Park located at 115 S. County Road 575 East in Avon. The following lists the tentative schedule for the day:

- 4:30pm Ping Pong Brawl (Town of Avon vs. Washington Twp.)
- 5:00pm AHS Dance Team
- 6:00pm Games & Activities Close
- 6:30pm Craft Vendors Close
- 7:30pm Local Talent Show Finals
- 8:30pm Avon Oriole Sound & Fusion
- Dusk Fireworks
While all of these events are taking place, you can also take in the Dr. Seuss-themed Heritage Festival Parade that begins at Kingsway Christian Church. The parade lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You can also start the day off right in Avon by attending the all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m at the Avon United Methodist Church. Prices for the breakfast are $6 for adults and $3 for children aged five and under.
