If you haven’t paid a visit recently to Fountain Square, you might be surprised to discover what a renaissance the area has undergone in the past year or two. The area has been steadily regaining popularity, thanks to many events like Art Squared and the dedicated efforts of its citizens to make the area attractive. We will be sure to brief you on other events in the area as we hear about them, but today we want to let you know more about Art Squared.
The idea behind Art Squared is that you can enjoy three great art events for the price of, well, none. The math nerds in us want to scream that with three events, this should be more like Art Cubed. But since it takes place in Fountain “Square,” we’ll let it slide and say it’s still appropriate. All three of these FREE events that make up Art Squared take place on Saturday September 21. The three events are Masterpiece in a Day, the Fountain Square Art Parade, and the Art Fair.
The whole affair takes place from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Here are the details on each of the three events (you can click here for even more info):
- Masterpiece in a Day: Where you can find locals, artists, students, and friends creating works of art and writing in a day to qualify for cash prizes. You can participate for FREE as well if you wish.
- Art Parade: You can help build a float, wear a fun outfit, or just watch the art move around you. The only rules to this parade is that everything must be family friendly and be able to move along the parade route. Again, participation is FREE.
- Art Fair: It’s FREE to look around here, but you can also buy goods, art, and hand-made items from local Indiana artists and vendors.
