The App Store turns five this week.
Apple is probably a fan of the fact that the word “app” is most of its name. While app is short for application, Apple has been able to offer these apps for five years through its App Store. Considering how many apps we’re familiar with (after all, there’s an app for just about everything), it might be somewhat surprising to think that the Apple App Store has only been around for five years, but that’s just how fast the business has grown.
In celebration of this five year mark, Apple is offering several popular apps for FREE this week. If you don’t already own apps from the following list, you’ll want to download them now while the freebie is in effect:
