If you head over to the area just outside of Sunset Bowl (located at 10809 E. US Highway 136 in Indianapolis) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, you have the opportunity to take part in a fundraiser for a great cause. Two women named Angie Buis and Debra Beaumont have gathered together a group of businesses to hold a bake and vendor sale. The fundraiser is designed to support a young girl named Alissa and her family.
Alissa was born with a rare and unpredictable genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis. Doctors had an idea that something was amiss when they noticed that she had Rhabdomyomas in her heart. Now, Alissa unfortunately has had to deal with tumors growing in different organs around her body. Some of them developed in her brain, causing her to suffer from seizures. She’s on medications to control these symptoms, but the side effects have damaged her eyesight and caused other issues for this poor girl.
While most medical expenses have been covered, the travel expenses for this family and the amount of time they have had to devote to Alissa rather than work have both contributed to financial strain. While we all obviously have Alissa and her family in our thoughts and prayers, these vendors are coming together to raise money to support them. If you come out this weekend to the fundraiser outside of Sunset Bowl, you have the opportunity to help while shopping with the following vendors:
- Scentsy
- Gold Canyon Candles
- Mary Kay
- Little Sweets arrangements
- B.A. Sweets Inc.
- Clever Containers
- It Works
- Origami Owl
- Jamberry Nails
- Thirty One

For more details and information on how to make a donation if you would prefer that over attending the fundraiser, we encourage you to check out the Alissa’s Fundraiser Facebook event page. Also, because this event takes place outdoors, there is a chance it could be rained out. If so, it will be moved to the same time on Saturday May 4.
