There’s nothing worse than getting sick around the holidays. There are so many fun parties and get-togethers this time of year, and you want to be able to catch up with all your loved ones. Exposing yourself to so many people, however, can be like giving coal to your immune system for Christmas.
It’s probably for that reason that the powers that be declared this week National Influenza Vaccination Week. If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet, this could be your opportunity to do so before you’re exposed to all the bugs your friends and family bring with them to the ugly sweater parties. The following is a rundown of prices and offers from various stores and pharmacies around town:
CVS: $31.99 shot. You don’t need to make an appointment first (though you can make one if you like), and you will receive a 20% shopping pass for all your purchases in-store that day.
Walgreens: $25 to $40 shot (depending on the individual location). Walk-ins are always welcome, but you can also schedule flu shots or other vaccinations for either seniors or adolescents ahead of time if necessary. Walgreens also has a special promotion lasting through October 14. When you get a flu shot or any other immunization at Walgreens, they will help provide a life-saving vaccine through the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.
Walmart: $25 shot. You don’t need a prior appointment for this one.
Kroger: They offer the same deal as Walmart.
Target: The shot is $25. If you are a member of the Pharmacy Rewards program, your flu shot can count towards your five prescription fills that qualify you for 5% off a day of shopping. Appointments here aren’t necessary.
Meijer: The shot is $25, and you will receive a FREE Health and Wellness Planner with over $45 in coupons (while supplies last). Appointments here aren’t necessary.
