Virtually every restaurant with a bar offers drink specials, but the real way to save on dining out and happy hour in Indianapolis is to look for appetizer specials.
We don’t want to bore you with a full listing of every restaurant’s appetizers. Almost all of them offer wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, etc. We’ll simply point out a couple of unique offerings for each restaurant. Here’s our list:
Applebee’s. The appetizers go on sale for half-price after dark. Given the change in seasons and the fact that this is a national promotion with locations across multiple time zones, we don’t have a specific list of hours for this special. If it’s dark outside and you’re hungry, however, Applebee’s will hook you up on the cheap. Many locations don’t close until after midnight, so you’ll have time to enjoy. Unique appetizers: green bean crispers, grilled chicken wonton tacos, steak quesadilla towers.
Champps Americana. Select appetizers (AKA pretty much all of them except the Sampler platter) are half-off from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Unique appetizers: crab bread, calamari fritti.
Claddagh Irish Pub. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays and from 10:00 p.m. to close on Fridays and Saturdays, Claddagh Irish Pubs offers its select appetizers for only $5 each. Unique appetizers: corned beef and cabbage rolls, Scotch eggs.
Elbow Room Pub. If you purchase a beverage in the bar area between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday), you’ll gain access to $5 appetizers. Unique appetizers: Jumbo pretzels, Sriracha tenderloin strips.
Hard Rock Cafe. Every Thursday, you can enjoy half price appetizers (except for the Jumbo Combo) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the bar area. Unique appetizers: balsamic tomato bruschetta, nachopalooza.
Indianapolis Colts Grille. Monday – Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and after 9 p.m., enjoy 2 for 1 appetizers (aka half price). Unique appetizers: edamame, firecracker popcorn shrimp, fried pretzels.
McCormick & Schmick’s. You’ll “sea” the happy hour specials here from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, but only in the bar area if you dine in. The appetizers range in reduced prices from $2.99 to $5.99. Unique appetizers: fish tacos, firecracker shrimp, black mussels.
Scotty’s Brewhouse. Scotty’s offers $5 appetizers fairly frequently, though the hours are a bit more specific here than most restaurants. The available times are 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close on weekdays, 10 p.m. to close on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 p.m. to close on Sundays. Unique appetizers: Garlic and parmesan shoestring fries, bbq pulled pork nachos, roasted red pepper hummus.
TGI Friday’s. This one is awesome enough that we wrote a separate post on the matter. The short version here is that if you pay $10, you can pick one appetizer to enjoy endlessly (AKA all you can eat). This special is perfect for someone watching a game on the big screen. It’s probably the best value deal on this list (assuming you’re hungry). Unique appetizers: garlic and basil bruschetta, pan-seared pot stickers.
